Democrat Legislators Encourage Residents to Get Involved With State Elections

By KFBB News Team

You might be hearing a lot about the Great Falls City Commission and President Obama's plan for healthcare but local legislators say it is time to get involved with state elections because it can have a big effect on you, your family, and your pocketbook.

Even though the 62nd Legislative Session does not start until next January, the democrats kicked off their campaign season on Monday. That is because it was the last day to file for the Montana Legislature.

Local democrats gathered at Baker Bob's in downtown Great Falls Monday to announce who is running for the legislature and what their plans are for the next session in Helena. Democrats say they are relying on their track record to garner votes come election time.

Mitch Tropila, a Senator in Senate District 12 says, "We're good fiscal managers. We're creating quality jobs and we're bringing good green energy jobs to Montana, wind farms from Judith Gap to Cut Bank. That's why we want people not only to listen to our concerns and talk to us but vote democrat."

Lindsay Love who is running for House District 25 says, "as we move forward to the 2010 election cycle, we want to keep talking to Montanans about fiscal responsibility that we've demonstrated, creating good paying jobs for working families and moving our communities forward."

The primary election will take place on June 8th, followed by the general election in November.
