Tiernan Irish Dancers In Helena

The Tiernan Irish Dance Group was spreading the luck of the Irish as the jigged their way through Helena today.

The Irish Dancers visited the Capitol, elementary schools, and many restaurants in town. The dancers jig all year long, but as you might guess, this is their busiest day on the calendar.

Today's dancers ranged in age from six years old to seniors in high school. One of those seniors told us how she caught on to the luck of the Irish ten years ago.

Dancer Kate Runkel said she used to be in ballet, but wasn't very good at it. Then, the Irish dancers performed at her school and she was immediately hooked. Kate hopes to continue dancing in college.

All of the costumes the dancers wear, as well as the curly hair do's, are designed after traditional Irish culture.
