Great Falls Celebrates the Luck of the Irish for a Good Cause

Irish festivities were in full swing today at the Hi Ho Tavern on 10th Avenue South.

“Wearing green? We should pinch them!”

So was Don Miller.

“It’s tradition – good food, good people here.”

The luck of the Irish was in the air today – from the green beer to the St. Patty’s Day flair.

You know it’s St. Patrick’s Day when you’re surrounded by green, Irish men and corned beef and cabbage. And it tastes even better when it’s going towards a good cause.

“The Ursuline Center is sponsoring their annual Saint Patrick’s day corned beef and cabbage dinner, along with mulligan stew,” explained Juanita McGregor of the Ursuline Center.

The bustling crowds that turned out for today’s event are good news for the Center, since for the 9th year in a row all money raised from the complete Irish meal will go to them.

“I graduated from the Ursuline Academy and that’s who’s sponsoring this today. So I came to share with some of my old friends,” shared Jay Jewett.

This is one of the largest fundraisers of the year for the Center. Besides food sales, a silent auction and live auction will also help to bring in donations.

Explained the Ursuline Center’s Development Director Kristi Scott, “It’s really important to bring in funding so that we’re able to preserve this historic treasure. Everything from repainting bricks to replacing windows and heating systems, fire suppression systems – it’s really an important fundraiser for us.”

Continued McGregor, "It's a lot of fun for everybody to come out and have some corned beef and cabbage and share with friends and buy some silent auction items and bid on the orals and raise a little money for the Ursuline Center, for a very good cause."

The Saint Patrick’s Day fundraiser will continue until 7 PM tonight, with a live auction at 6:30.

That will include pieces of antique furniture from the Ursuline Center and a 42 inch flat screen TV.
