Lewis & Clark Elementary Sock Hop for Fitness

Lewis and Clark Elementary School took a trip back in time today, as it was transformed into a 50’s Sock Hop.

Students in grades K through 6 were decked out in poodle skirts as they shook and shimmied through the Hoki Poki, Macarena and YMCA.

It was all in an effort to combine fun and fitness – taking the place of gym class, the Sock Hop event was put on to promote healthy eating and staying active.

This isn’t the first time the school has put on a Sock Hop. In the past, it was held at night but this year, the school switched it to occur during the day in order to include more students.
