Final Preparations Made For Western Art Week

Each year, cowboy artist Charlie Russell is celebrated during Western Art week in Great Falls, where Russell spent much of his life. Today, event organizers made final preparations as thousands descend on the western art capital of the world.

It is show time, at the CM Russell Museum, as 287 pieces of art work will be on display and ready for auction.

“People can expect quality art at good prices," said Darrell Beauchamp, Executive Director of the CM Russell Museum.

After 41 years, the museum severed ties with the Ad Club to form its own auction, known as the Russell: The Sale to Benefit the CM Russell Museum.

"This is a perfect venue,” Beauchamp said. “The lighting is great and so is the atmosphere. We are glad that it is back here at the museum."

A Maynard Dixon painting on display has a minimum price tag of $750,000.

Across town at the Heritage Inn, final preparations are underway for the 42nd annual CM
Russell Art Auction.

"Everyone can expect four days of great original art, and a lot of wonderful events," said Ad Club Director Sara Becker.

The event features 261 pieces and has something new this time around.

"We have a new event is called ‘The Magnificent 7’ where people can see six hours of live action and mingle with the artists," Becker said.
