School employees across Montana are getting slammed by dramatic hikes in health insurance rates.

That's according to Senator Jon Tester, who spoke on the Senate floor today.

Tester said some Montana schools are bracing for rate increases as high as 70 and 80 percent.

He also challenged members of Congress opposed to reforming health care to step up and do what’s right for Montana’s families.

Tester adds, “For those in Congress who say the American people don’t want or need reform, let them talk to the folks I’ve talked to. Like the teachers seeing these rate increases. Like the Montanans being forced to sell their family farms and ranches because of medical bills. Like the Montana small business owners who can’t afford to insure their employees.”

Tester cited some of the Montana schools facing the most drastic increases, including Hinsdale and Saco schools face a seventy to 71 percent hike.
