"The Russell": The C.M. Russell Museum's First Solo Event

By KFBB News Team

With art shows underway across the city, it's easy to see why Great Falls is known as the "western art capitol of the world." But one of those shows is a new addition to Western Art Week.

"This is more of what you would consider a silent auction,” said PR coordinator, David Sayre, of the wall sale. The event featured 132 works, including a $750,000 Maynard Dixon painting.

"I think the inaugural year for the Russell is going to be outstanding in the fact that it represents a whole new forum for everyone and way to be a real part of the museum itself," noted Auctioneer Carson Thomas, who will call the live auctions.

“We want to bring a touch of class to the auction itself,” he explained. “That’s our hope. And we want people walk away with a good piece at a fair price."

The Wall Sale art that was not sold Thursday night will stay at the museum for two weeks--where anyone has the chance to buy it.

Friday is the Art in Action event at the Meadowlark Country Club.

Saturday is the Live Auction and brunch at the museum.
