Future of Hi-Line Bus Transportation Topic of Conference

The North Central Montana Transit system was launched in August of 2009. It was predicted that the bus line would see a couple hundred riders each month, but in the 200 days the line has been in operation, they have seen over 13,000 riders. And it's that progress, that helped select the line for the Easter Seals Project ACTION program.

But in that short time, the North Central Transit System has grown faster than anyone could have predicted, and now the small bus line is part of a two-day conference focused on the future.

The North Central Montana Transit system was one of the 12 communities selected nationwide by the Easter Seals Project ACTION, a program that helps work out accessibility issues. The Havre-based bus line was chosen alongside larger cities like Seattle, Washington and El Paso, TX.

The bus line has been widely used by riders looking for transportation to medical appointments, making the need to connect and work with different transit systems found across the state crucial in planning future transportation needs.

And with the help of this week's Easter Seal project leaders, the system will work on communication with communities and stakeholders across the region, making the future of Hi-line transportation even brighter than its start.
