Attorney General Bullock Warns Montanans About High-Pressure Scams

Attorney general Steve Bullock is warning Montanans about a high pressure scam.

Bullock says door-to-door salespeople in Helena are using high-pressure sales tactics selling household cleaning products. The salespeople represent Austin Diversified Products. The Illinois-based company earned a C-minus rating from the Better Business Bureau.

Bullock warns consumers to not feel pressured into buying things they don't need and that under the Montana’s Right to Cancel Law, you have up to three days to cancel the purchase.

“We really need to be careful when someone comes to our door not necessarily to fault but due to high-pressure sales-tactics, not to let people into your house. Make sure to ask are they a registered business in Montana,” says Attorney General Bullock.

Bullock also adds that it’s important to remember that few things are every really “free,” read the fine print and if you have any concerns call the Office of Consumer Protection at (406) 444-4500.

THERE are scams going on the phone now also. I have gotten 4 calls in 2 days saying I had won alot of money, and it was a check in Bank of America. The calls are coming from JAMAICA but they say they are in ILLINOIS,LAS VEGAS &CALIF. Each time they call they have a different name and place. Do not give out any information.BE Alert.
