Blue Dragon Beads made a stop in Great Falls this weekend, not only to sell beads, but to raise food for the Great Falls Food Bank. The travelling bead show, based in Missoula, stopped in Great Falls in March as well, and says they raised close to 400 pounds of food then.

As part of the Bead and Feed Benefit, vendors offer discounts to patrons who bring food to the show; and the bigger the donation the bigger the discount. Organizers say they stage about 24 shows a year, and around 8 of those are benefit shows.

The group says it’s important to raise food because you never know when you might need the help of the food bank. “We’re all friends, we’re all neighbors and at some point in your life you may need that Food Bank. And especially in the summer and the fall, the Food Bank really hurts for food. So, we do our benefits to raise food for them so that you’re friends aren’t going without,” Adrienne Keith says.

The show features several types of beads as well as books, tools and other hobby necessities. The show’s next stop in Montana is August 28th and 29th in Kalispell.
