Belt Music Festival Raises Money for Theater

In another Labor Day tradition, the main drag through Belt was blocked off today. The 13th Annual Belt Music Festival took place this afternoon. It featured several bands at parks and bars throughout the town.

This year's festival is raising money for the Belt Theatre, which has fallen into disrepair. One performer who grew up in Belt says getting the theater up and running would mean a lot for the community. “It would mean a lot down here, bringing in revenue, and just the entertainment factor. This town has great personality, a lot of friendly people and a lot of musical talent in this town and around this area.” Singer April Wells says.

Wells says getting the theater up to code is still at least another two years away. Besides the music, the festival featured an ice cream and pie social, food vendors, crafts sales and games for the kids.
