C.M. Russell Museum Assumes Naming Rights for Their Auction

The C.M. Russell Museum has officially secured naming rights for their auction from the Great Falls Ad Club.

According to an Ad Club press release, the museum now owns the rights to the C.M. Russell Art Auction name and all the associated trademarks.

The museum's director says it was only appropriate for the Ad Club to use the name while the museum was a beneficiary of the auction, adding the name was always the museum’s property.

The Ad Club says the museum sued them for the naming rights earlier this year and the club surrendered the name they used for 41 years to avoid a legal battle.

The Ad Club decided to in July to stop holding their long-running auction.
