Rude Awakening for Great Falls Residents When Car Hits House

By KFBB News Team

A local family had a rude awakening over the weekend when a car crashed into their house. The crash happened around 3 AM yesterday at the corner of 38th Street and 10th Avenue North. The homeowner says the crash woke him and his neighbors.

He says the fifteen year old driver initially fled the scene before an adult brought him back. One neighbor says the young driver appeared to be intoxicated.

The house sits at the end of 10th Avenue North and the owner says cars have ended up in his yard before, but this is the first to hit the house. He has small trees along his property thinking it would stop cars. “I did, but now we're going to put some great big rocks there, maybe some pipe bollards or something,” Damon Heck says.

The crash put a hole in the house, broke a window, tore off siding, and cracked the foundation in three places. Heck says it's hard to estimate how much repairs will cost.

No one in the house was injured; witnesses say the driver left the scene in an ambulance.

To the unnamed adult that brought the child back to the scene of the accident. Thank you for that, thank you for making him face what he did, he had good reason to be afraid. I think the saying it takes a community to raise good children is a good one unfortunately it's an old one. Too many people think it is only up to the parents, to keep kids in line, friends that's how kids wind up dead. Thank You again unnamed adult..;)

These responses were to the person that asked what kind of a parent...you can read the rest. Parents don't trust kids and assume the worst and we might do ok.

The cops were called and the other parent was out looking for this kid the whole night after the cops said they wouldn't go check to see if a party was being held at the other parents house.

Child's mother was out of town supposedly when the teen was out drinking and driving. A different adult who I will not name brought him back. Kid was at fault completely.

Obviously the parent is very responsible. They brought their child back to the scene. Thank you parent for showing your child the responsible thing to do. Some parents wouldn't be that responsible. I'm sure this child will be disciplined and that is the parents responsibility. Thank god no one was hurt!
