Elk Poached, Beheaded

On Sunday night, a large bull elk was killed and beheaded by a poacher in Montana City.

The shooting happened near McClellen Creek Road and Sawmill Road just after dusk Sunday night, during the Super Bowl.

The elk's meat rotted overnight, and no part of the animal could be salvaged.

Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks tell us the head was taken by the poacher because he or she wanted the antlers.

Dave Loewen, Game Warden, says, “This is the kind of incident that gives legitimate sportsmen a bad name. It really gives everyone a black eye. These people should not be considered sportsmen at all. They’re criminals; this is a crime, and we need to address it. So, we’re asking for the public’s help.”

Information about the person or people responsible could result in a reward up to $1,000.

Need to catch the guys you only kill what you eat. I have never eat the horns!
