House Fire in Southwest Great Falls: No Serious injuries Reported

A home owner tells us she's lost all her belongings after an evening blaze destroyed the back portion of a home in southwest Great Falls.

Great Falls Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Chuck Rovreit tells ABC 5 a call came in a little after 5:00PM Friday night reporting a fire in the back of a building.

He says people were in the structure when the fire started but they all made it out safe.

Three crews responded to the house fire located on 1317 14th St. SW.

The first arriving company saw flames coming from the back of the home, the blaze quickly traveled from a bedroom into trees and then the backyard. Rovreit says crews quickly had the blaze under control.

Rovreit says most of the damage was contained to where the fire started; a back bedroom and no injuries are reported at this time. However, the Red Cross has been called out to help the residents of the home.

“Fire had gone outside the building and out into the back deck and into the trees so we had an interior fire and an exterior fire. Got it knocked down pretty quick, still investigating we don’t have a cause yet,” says Rovreit.

The Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire. Rovreit says crews will stay on the scene to observe for most of the evening. We'll keep you updated as we learn more.
