Jim Murry Named New Commissioner of Political Practices

The governor appointed a new Commissioner of Political Practices Monday.

Democrat Jim Murry will be taking over effective Tuesday. He's replacing Dave Gallik who resigned earlier this year.

According to the governor's office, Murry has held leadership roles in the private, public, and non-profit sectors. He was also the executive secretary of the Montana State AFL-CIO from 1968 to 1991.

He will serve the rest of Gallik's term which expires in December of 2016. Republican Colleen Urquhardt-Fillner was the only other nominee interviewed by the governor.
