Jobs for Montana's Graduates a Nation-Wide Success

By KFBB News Team

Despite the state's dismal high school drop-out rate, a special program for troubled teens is being recognized as a nation-wide success.

Governor Schweitzer was on hand to congratulate the Department of Labor and Industry's Jobs for Montana's Graduates Program (JMG.)

The national program, Jobs for America’s Graduates ranked the Treasure State number one in the nation for the fifth year in a row.

Jobs for Montana's Graduates also helps students on reservations and is shown to improve graduation rates, transitioning to work and full-time job placement.

Department of Labor and Industry Commissioner Keith Kelly says “I think programs like this ensure this room full of kids doesn't end up being one of those causalities that drop out or regrettably end up in one of the other institutions or systems, cashing out a life. So, it's with that I’m pretty confident that they're going to keep moving the ball forward, this country will.”

Since its inception in 1990, JMG has positively affected 10,000 Montana students.
