I hate the stuff, will never do it... I think it's gross and disgusting and makes people look like fools. Disgusting... throwing up in my mouth at the thought of it... Have fun though, I have no problems with people doing it, most of my good friends have done it or are still doing it. I just won't be around it while people are doing it. EVER... Myself and my family at least 2 generations deep did not use the stuff and all died with dignity and honor without it. I will do the same. And yes, I've done exhaustive research on my family genealogy to know the facts about them. Just my 0.02! As for the laws... let the libs have their way on this one. They won't shut up until they get it and I'm tired of hearing about something so insignificant to our real problems.

duncan what is your educational background?. I am a combat veteran who has tried just about everything. It is very hard to co-op with life and even harder to co-op with people like you. you sound like a mother living in fairyland who prays everyday for forgivness

wow.... your points are very valid indeed but people who have PTSD because of fender benders should not be prescribed medical canibus. We are not talking just about PTSD, we are talking about Veterans with PTSD who most likely experienced extreme scenarios in combat repeatidly .

From the Mayo Clinic which is one of the top medical facilities in the world: Most drug addictions start with casual or social use of a drug. For some people, this is as far as it goes. For other people, using the drug becomes a habit and use becomes more and more frequent. As time passes, you may need larger doses of the drug to get high. Soon you may need the drug just to feel good. As your drug use increases, you may find that it becomes increasingly difficult to go without the drug. Stopping may cause intense cravings and make you feel physically ill (withdrawal symptoms). It's possible to develop a psychological addiction to cannabis compounds including tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) found in marijuana and hashish. People who have a marijuana addiction generally use the drug on a daily basis.

Marijuana has repeatedly been proven to NOT cause cancer, heart disease, brain damage, liver disease, emphysema, or overdoses, and its addictive potential is about on par with coffee. The DEA is 100% misinformed when it calls marijuana "extremely harmful"! The marijuana prohibition empowers drug dealers and the cartels, and makes our children LESS safe! Because of the failings of the prohibition, our children now have easier access to marijuana than to alcohol! We parents have been patient long enough, we must speak up and demand that marijuana be legally sold to adults in gas stations and supermarkets just as beer and wine are today! We need laws based on logic, not ideology! We need to put an end to Richard Nixon's marijuana prohibition and Legalize Adult Marijuana Sales!!

Out of the 28,300 who received the medical marijuana card 26,000 are under 30 years old. That is a clear sign the law is broken, medical doctors who prescribe the drug should lose their license, and most of those individuals have misused and abused the law. This only hurts the people who really need the drug. So if someone wants to blame anyone then blame the majority of the 28,300 who truly do not need the drug. PTSD is not an excuse to use medical marijuana. Now we are going to have kids who are bullied qualifying for marijuana. Or a person who gets into a fender bender because they are traumatized.

Also, many veterans support the bill because of its apparent addictiveness. It was highly used and abused during Korean, Vietnam, Panama, Iraq (1 & 2), and so on. It reduced the pain of reality and as such coming home after getting shot, blown away, or watching their fellow soldier die is the reason for using it. It hides the real need to get help. Pain can be managed by other natural and synthetic methods. If nothing works then and only then should marijuana be an option.

If we want to provide marijuana to patients then doctors should have no financial connection to the distributors of this drug. Also, similar to other class A or Schedule II drugs for Controlled drug it can only be prescribed in short quantity and distributed by a licensed pharmacist. This means the ma and pa shops would have to go. It would be an incentive for other states to follow. Once a qualified medical doctor (M.D. / D.O.) determines the symptoms can be managed by other means or notices addictive behavior they can stop prescribing. Then it goes into a general computer system where doctors must check before prescribing the drug for prior abuse. Also, if you drive you must not be under the influence as it does slow motor and thinking and causes an alter state of mind. Yes, there are other drugs out there which should be treated the same way like Cigarettes!

When someone says marijuana is not addictive or a gateway drug is misguiding people. Marijuana is addictive although its detoxification symptoms are not physically apparent. Mentally it is addictive because one must continue to smoke marijuana to achieve the euphoria is gives a person. Does it reduce violence. Yes, for one has no motivation to do anything except laugh and eat. Most drugs addicts who are recovering will state marijuana was their first drug that led them to more powerful ones. Most will not dispute marijuana has good benefits, but clear independent research has to occur. Marinol was created to treat two areas: nausea and stimulate hunger. That meant treating cancer and similar patients along with eating disorders. Not the toothache or muscle spasms. There are other natural and synthetic methods to resolve those. PTSD patients while I empathize with them do not require marijuana unless they have failed all other forms of treatment.

Duncan20903: since you hate cannabis so much, here's hoping you need some medicinal cannabis some day. Not very nice of me, I know, but I hate bigots.

Marijuana is the safest drug with actual benefits for the user as opposed to alcohol which is dangerous, causes addiction, birth defects, and affects literally every organ in the body. Groups are organizing all over the country to speak their minds on reforming pot laws. I drew up a very cool poster for the cause which you can check out on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/01/vote-teapot-2011.html Drop in and let me know what you think!

Just repeal the 1st Amendment, or at least the free speech part and you can keep corporations from engaging in political speech all you want. But don't forget that will make you a target to be censored by law as well. If you think that the 1st Amendment is only for natural human beings you need to go re-read it. Congress shall make no law... Tell us where you see it limited to people only.

Jesus said to do unto others as we would have them do unto us. I hope that if my parents ever want to use a little marijuana for the aches and pains of growing older, they won't have to worry about having their home confiscated and being thrown in jail with the sexual predators. Let's stop putting Americans in jail over marijuana.

PTSD should most definitely be included as a qualifying condition for Medicinal Cannabis. PTSD is a complex syndrome, inclusive of anxiety, insomnia, mood swings, "hyper vigilance" etc. All these condition may potentially benefit from medicinal Cannabis without having to contend with many serious side-effects of the traditional pharmaceuticals. Here are the facts: Cannabis is NOT physically addictive as it lacks a "physical withdrawal syndrome" necessary for a determination of physical dependence; the so-called gateway drug theory is completely invalid, and it was just declared "half-baked" by a scientific study. Drug Marinol is just a synthetic THC "analogue" and NOT the Medicinal Cannabis with its more than 70 active compounds by any means; it has been proven that Cannabis use suppresses violent urges and behaviors, which is a definite and huge "plus" in this violent society; studies also concluded that Cannabis use is NOT a risk factor for lung cancer; YES to Medicinal Cannabis!

Wow, how did the potheads who only want to get high ever manage talking all these veterans into believing that medical cannabis works? Why, these Cheetos eating, Cheech and Chong worshiping, Mother's couch layabouts even managed to scam Israel into giving it to their soldiers! In hospitals no less! The Israelis with their deep ingrained respect and admiration for their soldiers giving pot to them because hippies just want to get it legalized. By the way, how the heck are these vets going to feel if they get this approved and that cruel, inhuman nonsense to repeal medical cannabis, promoted by those unlicensed doctor-politicians with a political agenda and no empathy for the suffering of their fellow man manages to pass?

When was the last time you heard of the cops being called to break up a fight at a marijuana party? NEVER! When was the last time you heard about a marijuana consumer beating his wife? NEVER! The cops and the politicians know marijuana is no threat to society but they keep screaming their fear mongering marijuana lies at every opportunity. Did you ever wonder why?

Marijuana does not cause aggressive behavior. Marijuana does not cause dangerous driving. Marijuana does not cause cancer, brain damage or any serious health problems. Marijuana prohibition does not keep kids away from marijuana, illegal dealers don’t ask for ID. Marijuana is not a “gateway drug”, there is absolutely NOTHING about marijuana that causes people to use other drugs. Marijuana is not addictive. In fact marijuana is one of the safest substances known! Marijuana is SAFER than many foods we consume and give to our kids all the time! Exactly what good is this prohibition doing and who is benefiting from it?

The vast majority of problems attributed to marijuana are actually problems directly and completely caused by marijuana PROHIBITION! How many more lives have to be ruined by marijuana PROHIBITION before We The People step up and legalize marijuana? Why is the most useful plant known illegal? It’s illegal because crooked corporations that buy crooked politicians fear competition from superior, safer and more environmentally friendly hemp products and because the Government loves to oppress jail and steal from the people! Alcohol, tobacco, petroleum, cotton, timber, chemical and pharmaceutical companies, just to name a few, all see marijuana as unwanted competition. The best way for We The People to regain our Constitutional rights and liberties is to demand a complete ban on corporate lobbying. We are supposed to have Government of, for and by THE PEOPLE, not of, for and by corporations! Corporations are NOT people!
