Legislative Budget Discussions Prepare for Session

The Legislative Session may be months away but the budget affecting the Legislative Council was on the minds of many today at the capitol.

The Legislative Budget Subcommittee reviewed the 2012-2013 Legislative Services Division budget.

With a status-quo budget of $14,000,000 million dollars, the subcommittee is proposing five percent cuts in areas such as personal service and operational areas.

The proposed cuts would take out over $651,234 dollars from the current budget and over a biennium would save about $1.3 million dollars.

Final adoptions of a budget will be discussed tomorrow.
