Man Pleads Guilty to April Bank Robbery

By KFBB News Team

A man in his 60's accused of robbing a great falls bank changed his plea in court Thursday.

Walter Barrentine was originally charged with felony robbery and misdemeanor theft for allegedly robbing the downtown Stockman Bank in April.

Barrentine admitted to passing the teller a note, demanding 100, 50 and 20 dollar bills.

He told the judge he did not mean to act like had a weapon in his coat because he had no weapon on him, but he understood that he scared the teller during the robbery.

In exchange for pleading guilty to felony robbery, the state dropped a misdemeanor theft charge for the $620 he did get away with.

They are recommending a 20 year prison term with 10 years suspended.

Sentencing is scheduled for November 3rd.
