Margarita Meltdown a Success for Eagle Mount

By Charlie Keegan

Even with the high temperatures and lack of snow we've seen in the region, around 1,600 people took a beach vacation last Friday. The annual “Margarita Meltdown” offered an escape from the wind, at least, for the night.

The event benefits Eagle Mount. Organizers have not finished all the calculations from last week's fundraiser, but they are calling it a success.

Eagle Mount offers therapeutic recreation to anyone with a doctor diagnosed disability. Activities range from horseback riding to ballet.

Besides raising money for different activities, the party raises awareness about the program. “When people realize what we're doing, and their night of fun was providing a lot of fun for a lot of people within our community, it's a win-win for everybody,” says Eagle Mount Executive Director Deb Sivumaki.

Plans have already started for the 8th annual Margarita Meltdown next year.
