Neighbor Works’ “Tour of Affordable Homes” in Great Falls

With new home sales continuing to plummet nationally and the economy still lagging, buying a new home for the first time may seem overwhelming. But today, during “The Affordable Homes Tour”, Neighbor Works provided the help families need to move into their first home.

This duplex located off 17th Street and 21st Avenue South offers two different properties for sale, during the Neighbor Works Tour of Affordable Homes in Great Falls. Al Henry says, "They range in price from the smallest is a two bed, two bath unit at $95,000 up to a four bedroom two bath double car unit at $159,000."

Neighbor Works says not only do they want to hand over the keys for a new home to those who qualify but they also want to make sure they can stay in the home. Al says, "One of the key features of the neighbor works home is our funding sources allows us to pay down payment assistance which ranges from $20,000 on up depending on the needs of the family and the specific funding source of the particular home."

They say that down payment assistance helps them provide housing for those who would be turned away from a normal bank mortgage lender. Al says, "So it’s like having Neighbor Works as a silent partner in the deal and helping these families get into homes and then stay in the homes."

Even for those who sell these properties, they know being a part of this program is helpful to the community. Dave says, "Oh yes the surrounding process and good people that need some help, great program and people to get into homes, affordable homes."

This is Dave’s fourth year selling Neighbor Works homes and says if you do qualify for a Neighbor Works home, act fast. Dave says, “Likely all eight of these units will be spoken for and allotted, here in just a couple of weeks, so time is of the essence if you’re able to qualify.”
