Orientation Gets MSU-Great Falls Students Ready for Classes

Incoming students were given the chance to become acquainted with college life today at MSU Great Falls.

The school’s 2010 new student orientation was held throughout the day, kicking off at 9 this morning with a welcome session.

Orientation continued into the afternoon with sessions including library services, financial aid entrance counseling and faculty expectations.

Organizers say the purpose of the orientation is to “help new students feel more connected to the college and to give them the tools and resources they need to be successful.”

Explains Dana Freshly, “Orientation is the most important day for students here on campus, especially right before they start school. It’s going to give them that feeling of, they know what they’re doing when classes start next week. They’re going to know where their classrooms are because they will have had a tour of the building. Those students who are doing online classes will know how to check in to those classes, know how to accomplish their assignments. They’ll also have met somebody here on campus, so they’ll see familiar faces.”

The day’s events also included the chance for students to meet with faculty and other students before classes begin on Monday.
