Salmonella Contaminated Eggs Pulled from Eastern MT Shelves

By KFBB News Team

The nationwide egg recall may have hit the treasure state.

The FDA says a Minnesota-based packaging company is voluntarily recalling eggs that might be contaminated. Those eggs were bound for several states, including Montana.

A state health official says the FDA identified Wal-Mart stores in Billings, Miles City and Laurel as having received the potentially tainted eggs.

Melissa Tuemmler, Section Supervisor for Food and Consumer Safety says “we have a little bit of concern that people are going to assume that all eggs are bad and that's not the case. The recalled eggs are not, you know, currently on the shelves, as far as we know today, that could change. But again we're always; the FDA informs us everyday updates on what's going on.”

Officials were able to identify the possibly tainted eggs due to an FDA tracking system.

State health officials say there have been no illnesses reported due to contaminated eggs in the Treasure State.
