Roe v. Wade Commemorated at Capitol

Today, The Montana Reproductive Rights Coalition marked the 39th Anniversary of the Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade.

The organization is made up of a number of statewide advocacy groups that promote being pro-choice.

They held a rally and luncheon in the state capitol and welcomed guest speakers.

The 1973 Roe v. Wade decision protects a woman's right to have a legal abortion.

Dr. Julie Danaher, Obstetrician & Gynecologist, says, “Women have always had and needed abortions. Restricting access, cutting off insurance coverage, shaming and insulting women and targeting abortion providers; none of it prevents abortion. ”

Advocacy organizations say one of the biggest challenges they'll face this year is a parental notification referendum that will appear on the 2012 general election ballot.

When I was young 19 had an abortion it still kills my soul and I am 56 now.
