Snowmobilers Beware...Trees Down at Kings Hill

By KFBB News Team

Wednesday was very windy across the area. Winds gusting more than100 mph brought down a lot of trees in Kings Hill and many of those trees have fallen across snowmobile trails.

A lot of trees have fallen along the Little Belt Mountain range and snowmobilers need to be very careful of downed trees. There are about 300 miles of snowmobile trails out here.

Park staff members have been working since Wednesday to clear the paths, but there are still trees down. The park's office says snowmobilers need to drive at a safe speed and be prepared for obstacles.

“We really want to encourage snowmobilers especially to really be careful when they’re out there riding on trails,” said Lewis and Clark National Forest Spokesman Dave Cunningham, “especially where sight distance is limited. We want people to have fun, we don’t want people to accidentally come around a corner and smack into a tree at 30 mph it can be a very serious injury.”

The Forest Service will continue working to clear the trails as long as it takes to finish the job.
