Briggs and Edwards Looking to Get to Work After Election Wins

By KFBB News Team

While most of today's agenda was about cleaning up campaign signs around great falls, both County Commissioner Joe Briggs and Sheriff-Elect Bob Edwards are still taking in everything from Tuesday night.

"The day after is largely relief, little bit of an adrenaline hangover, in some regards," said Joe Briggs, who was re-elected to the Cascade County Commission.

"Thinking about getting my signs taken down, thinking about the next steps at the sheriff's office, thinking about thanking everybody i possible can, so my mind's just spinning," said Bob Edwards, who was elected as Cascade County Sheriff.

Briggs has already served six years with county commission, and ready to serve a second term. And after his first campaign and last night's win, Edwards describes the whole process as surreal.

Both men are looking to get to work soon, with Briggs focused on TIF funding and the possibility of better internet service to the rural regions of Cascade County. Edwards is preparing to take on his new role as sheriff.

"New things will be from the legislative session," said Briggs. "We've got several pieces of economic development that Montana Associations of Counties is putting forward."

"We're going to hit the ground running," said Edwards.

And the future means that Briggs and Edwards will be working together on public safety, an issue both men say is crucial.

"We've got to make sure that the five year plan we've put together to put sheriff's department back on sound financial footing will flow forward," said Briggs.

"From day one, the top three things have been public safety, the budget, and the morale. and we're going to work hard at it," said Edwards.
