Election 2010: Republicans Win Big

By KFBB News Team

Election night was big night for Republicans not only in Montana but nationwide.

Last night's General Election results will increase the number of republicans in the legislature.

House District 78, previously held by a Democrat, will now be held by Steve Gibson and House District 80 went to Liz Bangerter who took a seat held by a Democrat for quite some time, incumbent Mary Caferro.

News Channel 5 spoke with the Republican party to hear what they have to say about gaining more control in local and state government.

“It was a big night for the people of Montana. The people, I think, spoke last night. They spoke in favor of a more humble government, a government who doesn't overreach, a government that doesn't try and tell people you must buy insurance whether you want it or not. It’s majestic to have the opportunity to watch self government at work and what an honor to have been there,” says Montana Republican Party Executive Director Bowen Greenwood.

Montana Republicans also say they want to restrain spending and bring a law forward to renounce health care reform.
