Smudged Ballots Mean Extra Hours for California Election Workers

By KFBB News Team

In California, election workers have been putting in extra hours after a small smudge led to a big ballot-counting problem. Workers were seen in back offices using rubber erasers to clean off smudge marks found mostly on mail-in ballots. These barely noticeable smudges are throwing off the ballot-reading machines. The marks showed up on the creases where they're folded to fit in the envelope. Most voters dropping off their ballots this morning had no idea the county had been working overtime for a week now inspecting ballots and erasing smudges.
