Helena man drowns in Missouri River

GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) — The Cascade County Sheriff's office says a 68-year-old Helena man has drowned in the Missouri River near Tower Rock State Park.

Authorities say the man, his wife, and two others were in a rubber raft that capsized Saturday after hitting a pillar of a bridge spanning Interstate 15 at about 3:30 p.m.

Lt. Bob Rosipal says the three others made it to shore, but the man's body was found about half a mile downstream, about 35 miles southwest of Great Falls.

Police say efforts to revive the man failed.

His name has not been released.
