Worker killed at dam construction site

GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) — PPL Montana says one of its workers has been killed in an accident at a construction site at a dam northeast of Great Falls.

The Great Falls Tribune reports that authorities responded Tuesday morning after receiving a call that a worker had been in an accident involving heavy equipment.

PPL spokesman David Hoffman says a worker was killed at 8 a.m. but did not identify the person. Hoffman referred all questions to the Cascade County Sheriff's Office.

Some 200 employees are working on the Rainbow Dam construction project. Workers are building a new power house and installing new turbine equipment to increase the amount of power the hydroelectric facility can produce.
