Spring Sales

BILLINGS - A sluggish economy is not stopping people from purchasing a brand new TV, surround sound system, or Ipod.

Billings Target officials say sales for the first half of the year in electronics have been a big surprise. Spokesman Jim Kaiser says a slowing economy usually means consumers spend less, but so far, that hasn't been the case.

Kaiser says Target's sales have been steady. "Electronic sales have been phenomenal you look at video game sales, dvd sales, cd sales, home theaters, home stereos, TV's, everything across the board," said Kaiser.

Officials say one thing that might be helping sales is the federal stimulus checks that Americans started receiving a few weeks ago.
