Death in Browning being investigated as homicide

GREAT FALLS - Authorities say a recent death in Browning is being considered a homicide. Special Agency Ken Porter says the FBI and Glacier County Sheriff's Office are investigating the death of 33-year-old Israel Shorting, who was found unresponsive at his Browning home last weekend. He was later pronounced dead at the Blackfeet Community Hospital.

On Wednesday, Sheriff Wayne Dusterhoff called the death suspicious, and said authorities believed Shorting may have been assaulted. Shorting's body was sent to the state crime lab in Missoula for an autopsy. Dusterhoff says results probably will be available this week.

Porter says no arrests have been made. However, Dusterhoff says deputies have detained people for questioning. Shorting worked as a Blackfeet firefighter crew boss and had three children who live in Canada. He will be buried in Wyoming.

Read an article that the person(s) who were investigated are not going to be charged due to lack of evidence. Sad that justice will not be served here, praying to those who brought on the pain and trauma for losing such a beautiful person in our lives. RIP Israel we will never forget about you and what you endured during your last day.

We love you and miss you so much, the only healing we get is the fact that you are safe in the arms of the Creator. You are our angel now looking down on us and watchin over us. Heard my best friend was hurt by his own people and there was no justice. Tears come easily when I see his photos of him smiling, memories past, one thing these people did not take is the love I have for my dearest friend. Truth comes when it is near for those who lied and think they will not get away. Creator will not allow a beautiful angel like Israel not have his justice. It will eventually happen, we send prayers to those who hurt him. We forgive those for what they did to the man we love.

Its so sad to hear about the death of a great person who was such a gentle person when he was here in Canada. People from all over will miss him so much. How can this happen to a person who made people laugh, and helped them when they were needing a friend. He helped save a life on the streets one time, as he was walking and this poor person keeled over, he stayed with that person until the Ambulance arrived. Would there be justice for him ? For the great loss his parents are feeling now?

Rest in peace my dear friend, we will miss you very much, you taught me to step up and be there for my own people...I am only 16 but hey I learned from you...sad that you were called home early...I will pray for your children, that they would have someone to teach them like you taught me while you were in my life...May god watch over your mom and dad...they loved you so much...take care my teacher...

It was so shocking to hear about Mr. Shortings sudden passing, he was respected and loved by many relatives in Canada. May the Creator watch over his children and his loving parents who loved him so much, as well his siblings. Mr. Shorting has special friends in Canada, and knowing he would never be there, breaks the hearts of those who loved him unconditionally. Rest in peace, we will miss you dearly, our prayers are with you and your family, especially your children.
