KALISPELL - Glacier National Park officials say the entire length of the Going-to-the-Sun Road is expected to open Wednesday.

Visitors will be able to travel 52 miles between West Glacier and Saint Mary after the alpine section of Sun Road opens at Logan Pass. Officials didn't specify an opening time for the famed road but said it would be sometime Wednesday morning.

The opening over Logan Pass will be the latest for the Sun Road since 1943, when the pass was opened July 10th because of reduced staffing during World War II. This spring's opening was delayed by prolonged winter conditions.

GF may double parking meter fees from 25 to 50 cents an hour. What do you think?

  • They need the money & I can afford it.
  • Another reason for me not to shop downtown.
  • A smaller increase will keep me shopping downtown.
  • Toss the meters, parking should be free.
