Fire crews fight blaze ignited at Wolf Creek

WOLF CREEK - An unoccupied home was destroyed after a propane tank caught fire near Wolf Creek.

Lewis and Clark County Undersheriff Leo Dutton says seven homes in the line of the fire Saturday evening were briefly evacuated, but by 8:30 p.m. the blaze was fully contained. Dutton says no one was injured in the fire, which was visible to motorists on Interstate 15.

Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Cheryl Liedle says the fire was called in around 6:15 p.m. Saturday. Fire crews from Craig, Wolf Creek and the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation battled the blaze. Cascade County deputies stayed on scene Saturday night to watch for flare-ups.

Fire investigators from Cascade County are working to determine how the propane tank caught fire. Dutton says a safety valve stopped the tank from exploding.
