BOZEMAN - A Whitehall man has died after his car drove off Interstate 90 and landed upside down in a water-filled gravel pit between Belgrade and Bozeman.

The Gallatin County coroner identified the victim as 31-year-old Jian Kun Wu.

The accident happened a little before 6 p.m. Monday. Some people who saw the accident managed to pull the man to shore, where they were met by Gallatin County sheriff's deputies and a Central Valley Fire Department crew, who performed CPR on the victim. Wu was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Montana Highway Patrol and the Gallatin County sheriff and coroner's office are investigating the crash.
