Woman pleads not guilty in pedestrian's death

By The Associated Press

BOZEMAN - A 30-year-old woman accused of driving drunk and running down a pedestrian in Belgrade has pleaded not guilty to vehicular homicide.

Lora Whitmore of Bozeman appeared in Gallatin County District Court Wednesday for the November 11th death of 56-year-old Chong Suk Everett.

Court documents state that Whitmore refused breath tests at the scene, but her blood-alcohol content was measured at 0.14 about 90 minutes later at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital. The legal limit for driving is 0.08.

District Judge John Brown ordered Whitmore into a pretrial program that requires her to wear an alcohol monitoring bracelet. She faces up to 30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine if convicted.
