BOULDER - Jefferson High School in Boulder has become the latest Montana school to approve a four-day school week.

School trustees approved the change on a 4-2 vote Wednesday. Luke Seneschal, student body president, says he believes the four-day week will increase attendance and improve morale. Language arts teacher Mark Kelly isn't convinced the change will help students.

The four-day school week would not reduce the overall time in class because each school day would be lengthened.

School officials are hoping the move could also increase its enrollment of 220. Jefferson High Principal Sharyl Allen has said another 800 students identified as living in Jefferson County attend school in other places, many of them in Helena.
