Man, son charged in death of Three Forks woman

BOZEMAN - A man has been charged with deliberate homicide in the death of a Three Forks woman whose bone fragments were discovered in a burn barrel outside her home.

Jay J. Myran, 37, made his initial appearance Wednesday in Gallatin County Justice Court on charges of deliberate homicide and tampering with evidence. He is accused of fatally shooting 53-year-old Gayle Brewster, then burning her body in an effort to dispose of it. His bail was set at $1 million dollars.

Brewster had been missing since mid-May. Authorities found the remains Tuesday near the rented trailer house where Brewster lived with Myran and his 14-year-old son.

The son, Lance Myran, appeared Wednesday in Gallatin County District Court via video conference Wednesday afternoon to answer to a charge of tampering with evidence.

Lance is a great kid. He is also my nephew. He is not only my son's cousin but his best friend. He has never been in trouble before. His father is the one that made him do, what would you do if you just seen someone kill someone else. You would have done the same thing. Lance is just a boy and his father has ruind his life. I feel sorry for Lance I love and will stand behind him. So people can say all of the negative things they want but it is all smutt. until you know the real truth.
