Prosecutors: Boy helped dad burn woman's body

By The Associated Press

BOZEMAN - Prosecutors say they will charge a 14-year-old boy with evidence tampering in the death of a Three Forks woman. That's after they say he told police of helping his father put the victim in a barrel and of gathering firewood to burn her body.

The details were released in court papers filed Thursday. Lance Myran appeared in Gallatin County District Court by video from a youth services center in Billings, where he is being held.

The teen's father, 37-year-old Jay J. Myran, is accused of fatally shooting 53-year-old Gayle Brewster, then trying to dispose of her body by burning it.

Authorities found her remains earlier this month near the rented trailer house where she lived with Jay Myran and his son. Court documents say the elder Myran told detectives Brewster put a shotgun in her mouth while he had his finger on the trigger and the gun went off.
