Man arrested in Bozeman bank robbery

BOZEMAN - A man whose car had been repossessed and whose house was in foreclosure has been arrested on suspicion of robbing an American Federal Savings Bank branch in Bozeman on Friday afternoon.

Judd J. Schwartz, who was arrested Saturday evening at his residence near Belgrade, also faces drug charges after officers reported finding a plastic bag with methamphetamine in his wallet. Court records said the bank robbery netted $2,580.

A bank employee told police the robber fled on a lime green Kawasaki dirt bike and several witnesses reported seeing a green motorcycle speed through town after the robbery.

Court records say police interviewed one neighbor who saw Schwartz leave his house at 3 p.m. Friday on his Kawasaki dirt bike and another neighbor saw him return at about 4:45 p.m., about 15 minutes after the robbery.

One of the neighbors said Schwartz had been having financial problems.
