Helena man dies after falling into cave near Avon

HELENA - Authorities say a 57-year-old Helena man has died after he fell into a cave northeast of Avon.

Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton says the man, whose name has not been released, was with a friend Monday afternoon when he went to take a picture of the cave. Dutton says the man slipped and fell.

He was flown from the scene near Ophir Creek to St. Peter's Hospital in Helena, where he died.
