BUTTE - An Ennis woman has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $60,000 from three Ennis businesses she had worked for.

Christine M. Todd pleaded guilty to felony theft and identity theft Monday before District Judge Loren Tucker. Prosecutors say Todd embezzled from Matson Excavation, Matson Irrigation and the Butcher Shop from June 2004 through November 2007. Court records say all three businesses were owned by Gordon and Tanya Matson and Todd was a bookkeeper for all three businesses.

Madison County Attorney Chris Christensen says Todd would write checks to herself or to pay a personal credit card and record it as a vendor of the company. Prosecutors say she also opened credit card accounts in the company's name and used them for personal purchases.
