GREAT FALLS - Authorities say a nearly three-year-long investigation into drug trafficking in Teton County has led the arrests of nine people.

Sheriff Keith Van Setten says 15 law enforcement agencies were involved in the investigation, and he hopes Tuesday's arrests will have at least a short-term effect on drug use in the county.

Great Falls television station KRTV reports that those arrested are seven men and two women, ranging in age from their 20s to 40s. They are expected to appear before a judge in a couple of weeks.

Combined, the defendants are facing dozens of charges including possessing and distributing dangerous drugs, which Van Setten says is marijuana. He adds that he expects more arrests in the case.
