Police nab suspect in Great Falls robberies

GREAT FALLS - Authorities say they have arrested a suspect in a pair of recent robberies in Great Falls.

Police identified the man as 46-year-old John Spaulding, of Great Falls, in crimes allegedly committed Saturday night.

Investigators accuse Spaulding of stealing a vehicle from two women at a motel, then later robbing a convenience store and making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police say they arrested Spaulding in Judith Basin County after the vehicle drove over a set of stop sticks laid in the roadway and came to a stop.

He is being held in the Cascade County Jail in Great Falls.
