DIXON - Authorities in Sanders County arrested three people following the theft of $60,000 in cash from a safe at a melon farm.

Trevor D. Nault, William Weatherwax and Dylan Leigh Rude have all been charged with one count of felony burglary, the Missoulian reported.

The burglary happened Sept. 12 at Dixon Melons, Inc.

At the time, owners Harley and Joey Hettick said they had a pretty good idea who made off with the season's proceeds from sales of honeydew and watermelons - money they hadn't been able to take to the bank because of the seasonal melon rush.

Somebody entered the Hettick's home and emptied a safe that had been accidentally left unlocked.

The local sheriff called the crime the biggest theft of cash in Sanders County in decades.

It wasn't clear if any money was recovered.
