Man accused of 9th, 10th DUIs skips court

By The Associated Press

BUTTE - Police are looking for a 60-year-old man who skipped court hearings on his ninth and 10th drunken driving arrests, including one in which he's accused of driving 28 miles in the wrong direction along an interstate.

James M. Baldwin was supposed to show up in Butte District Court Thursday morning and county court in Dillon later that day. Judges from both courts issued warrants for Baldwin's arrest after he failed to show.

Baldwin's attorney, Walter Hennessey, told a judge he hasn't had contact with his client.

Baldwin was arrested for DUI near Divide on April 16 and later pleaded not guilty. On May 2, police say Baldwin drove 28 miles in the wrong direction on Interstate 15 before he was arrested near Dillon. He later pleaded not guilty to felony DUI and criminal endangerment.
