MISSOULA - A 32-year-old St. Ignatius man accused of trying to have sex with a 14-year-old girl he contacted through the Internet has been charged with two felony counts of sexual abuse of children.

Jason Allen Sands appeared in Missoula County Justice Court on Monday, where bail was set at $20,000. Court documents say a woman told Missoula Police Detective Chris Shermer a 15-year-old friend was receiving sex offers from a man she met on her MySpace page. The woman posed as a 14-year-old girl named Kayla to learn more about the man's identity, and the detective took over Kayla's character and started exchanging text messages with the man.

Court records say the man indicated he wanted to have sex with Kayla and e-mailed an explicit photo to the detective. Sands was arrested Friday after allegedly arranging to meet the girl at a Missoula middle school.
