Man dies in apartment fire in Bozeman

By The Associated Press

BOZEMAN - Gallatin County officials say one man is dead and several other people were displaced after an apartment fire in Bozeman.

Sheriff Jim Cashell says the victim was the only resident of the apartment where the fire started. His name has not been released. The fire was reported at about 3 a.m. Wednesday. Fire Chief Jason Shrauger says crews had the fire knocked down within 45 minutes. He says the victim was found after the fire was extinguished.

Smoke from the fire spread to five other apartments in the one-story Gallatin Motel, displacing all of the tenants in those apartments. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
