Body in snowbank may have been there for months

By The Associated Press

ESSEX - Authorities say the frozen body of a man found in a snowbank near the northwestern Montana town of Essex appears to have been there for months.

Flathead County Undersheriff Pete Wingert says a man out for a walk spotted the body in a melting snowbank in a secluded area. Wingert says there was no obvious cause of death. The man appears to be in his 20s.

Wingert says dental records will be used to try to identify the man because of the condition of the body. He says a pack with a train ticket and other items were found nearby and may provide clues.

The body has been taken to a Columbia Falls mortuary.
